- 1/2 cup salted butter (125 grams) cold
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 grams)
- 1/2 cup sugar ( 120 grams) or 1 cup icing sugar
- 1 large egg (50 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (2.5 grams)
How To Make Portuguese Cat”s Tongue Cookies, Língua de Gato?
- Preheat the oven to 355°F (180°C) and line baking pans with parchment paper
- Add the sugar and butter into a mixing bowl and beat until the mixture is fluffy and smooth about 3 minutes.
- Slowly add in the egg and vanilla extract and beat until well combined.
- Add the flour and beat until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into a piping bag and cut the tip about 1/4 inch.
- Pipe strands of batter about 2 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width, separating them about 1/2 inch apart.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from oven and cool for at least one hour before serving.
