Bancha is a Japanese green tea leaf used to make tea, the matured bancha leaves are harvested late in the autumn season and are used to make tea all year round. If your water is too hot it will scorch the delicate bancha leaves resulting in an unpleasant bitter taste. When heating up the water, don’t allow it to come to boil, optimized temperature for bancha tea is 80°C (175°F).
  2. After brewing the bancha leaves, loss or bagged, allow to steep for just a minutes or so, no longer than that.

  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablepoons bancha tea leaves
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

HOW TO PREPARE BANCHA TEA?

  1. Heat water in a pot for about 5 minutes. 
  2. Add the dry leaves and cook for 8-10 minutes. Don’t bring the water to a boil just until it’s hot about 80°C (175°F).
  3. Once water is hot, allow the bancha leaves to steep for about 60 seconds, then pass through a sieve into a cup.
  4. Add honey to naturally sweeten the bancha tea if you wish.
  5. Serve hot and Enjoy!
