Delicious Yummy slowcooker Portuguese piri piri honey plum hickory chicken meatball recipe. These portuguese style chicken meats will have everyone asking for more. Infused with smokey flavor and spiced with the famous Portuguese piri piri, these chicken meatballs pack the heat.

Ingredients for Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder,
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder,
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder,
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika,
  • 1/2 teaspoon hickory or smoked flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley

Spicy Honey Hickory Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Piri Piri Sauce (Spicy Portuguese Chill Sauce)
  • 1/4  cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup of white wine
  • 1/4 cup plum puree
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cornstarch
  • 1/4 hickory flavor or smoke flavor

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat your oven to 450F degrees.
  • Line a baking pan with aluminum paper and spray with pan release

In a large bowl, add all the meatball ingredients and mix with your fingers until very well combined.

Roll meat into desired round balls and place into baking pan.

Bake them for 10-12 minutes or until meat has browned.

In a medium size bowl add all the Spicy Hickory Honey Sauce ingredients and mix them all together until combined.

Place the meatballs layer by layer into your slowcooker and adding the prepared sauce between layers.

Set temperature to low, cover and cook for 75 to 120 minutes.
