Preheat the oven to 330°F (165°C), and set the oven rack to the middle position. Line the bottom of a 9-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
Bottom Glaze – Add the brown sugar and butter into a bowl and mix them together until creamy. You can use a hand mixer if you prefer.
Evenly spread the butter mixture into the bottom of the lined cake pan.
Spread the mixture evenly in the lined cake pan, then add the apple wedges orientating them in 2 2 concentric circles.
Apple Cake Batter – Add the flour, sugar, and baking powder into a large bowl and whisk together.
Mix together the mix, vanilla extract, brown sugar, and egg in a bowl then add it to the flour mixture along with the melted butter and whisk or beat until the batter is creamy and smooth.
Evenly pour the batter on top of the apples.
Place into the oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes or until golden brown. You can check if the cake is baked by inserting a tooth pic, it should come out clean. and springy and a toothpick inserted in the center will come out clean if the cake is baked.
Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for 20 minutes in the cake pan.
To release the cake from the pan, run a knife along the inside wall of the cake pan, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate.
Allow the cake to cool completely for about another 30 minutes.
Slice and Serve.
