Ingredients For Braised Belgian Endives Recipe
- 8 large Belgian endives (2 Ibs)
- 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 2 1/2 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 teaspoons granulated sugar or brown sugar
- 3 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or (lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
How To Make Braised Belgium Endives?
- Remove the outer leaf of the Belgian endives and rinse with water.
- Cut the endives in half lengthwise.
- Add the butter to a pan on medium-low heat, and melt. Once butter is melted, add the crushed garlic, Belgian endives, and salt and cook for about 8 minutes turning over the Belgian endives 3-4 times until lightly browned.
- Sprinkle the sugar and black pepper and cook each side for about one minute.
- Add the balsamic vinegar or lemon juice and cook on medium-low heat for about 15 minutes turning them a few times, be careful turning them, they will be tender.
