Ingredients For Braised Belgian Endives Recipe

  • 8 large Belgian endives (2 Ibs)
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 teaspoons granulated sugar or brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or (lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

How To Make Braised Belgium Endives?

  1. Remove the outer leaf of the Belgian endives and rinse with water.
  2. Cut the endives in half lengthwise.
  3. Add the butter to a pan on medium-low heat, and melt. Once butter is melted, add the crushed garlic, Belgian endives, and salt and cook for about 8 minutes turning over the Belgian endives 3-4 times until lightly browned.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar and black pepper and cook each side for about one minute.
  5. Add the balsamic vinegar or lemon juice and cook on medium-low heat for about 15 minutes turning them a few times, be careful turning them, they will be tender.
  6. Serve and Enjoy!
