Easy Ghanaian doughnut recipe

One of our favorites easy doughnut recipe for breakfast. Our easy Ghanaian doughnut recipe (Drop Donuts) can be prepared quickly and will satisfy an army. These Ghanaian sweets are drop donuts and don’t require much work, they are delicious just coated in sugar or filled with a fruit jam, frosting or dulce de leche and dusted with icing sugar.

Ingredients
  

  • 300 grams All-purpose flour
  • 4 grams Dry yeast or 8 grams fresh yeast
  • 110 grams Sugar
  • 2 grams salt 1/4 teaspoon
  • 50 grams egg 1 large Egg
  • 200 grams Milk
  • 3 grams allspice 1/2 teaspoon
  • 4 cups Frying oil
  • 1/2 cup of sugar for coating Optional
  • Choose of fruit jam for filling donuts optional

Instructions
 

  • Put flour in a bowl
  • Add the allspice, salt, and sugar and sift
  • Add dry yeast and mix thoroughly( if using fresh yeast just add to the flour)
  • Add the milk to the flour mixture
  • Mix together using a mixer with hook attachment until dough is formed.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover. Let it rest for 1 hour or until the doubles in size.
  • After 1 hour, push out all air and leave to rise a second time for 30 minutes
  • Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or wok
  • Form dough into desired small balls and fry
  • Turn the donuts frequently to have a uniform color on all sides
  • Serve as is, or coat in sugar, cinnamon sugar or fill with jam dusted with icing sugar.
