Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose self-rising flour 240 grams
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter cold (1/3 cup or 85 grams) plus some for brushing on top
  • 2 teaspoon sugar 8 grams
  • 1 cup milk 240 grams

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 420°F (215°C) and line a rectangular baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-size bowl, add the self-rising flour and sugar and mix together using a whisk or spatula.
  • Cut the cold butter into small pieces or use a cheese grater and add it to the flour mixture. Mix the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Slowly add the milk and mix together just until the flour absorbs the milk and a dough begins to form.
  • Flour a working surface, then transfer the biscuit dough onto it forming a ball.
  • Sprinkle some flour onto the top of the biscuit dough and roll out to about 1-inch in thickness.
  • using a 2 1/2 inch round cookie cutter, cut out pieces of the biscuit dough and place them onto the baking tray separating them about 3 inches apart.
  • Combine the leftover dough by pressing it together and rolling it out again to 1-inch thick. Repeat the cutting process until all the biscuit dough is used up. You should get a total of12 pieces.
  • Place into the preheated oven and bake for 16-18 minutes or until the top of the biscuits are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter.
