Ingredients
  

  • 5 cups Granny Smith apples cored, and sliced apples (6 medium apples)
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed down
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats old fashioned
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter chilled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • In a 9-inch (23cm) square baking dish, arrange the sliced apples along the bottom.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cut into the mixture with a pastry cutter until a crumble is achieved. You can also use a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, and mix on slow speed until the mixture is crumbly about 2-3 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.
  • Place into the oven and bake the apple crisp for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Remove it from the oven and let it cool down for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top.
