APPLESAUCE
Add water, sugar and diced apples into a medium size pot, stir ingredients together and cover with lid.
Cook on medium low heat for about 25 minutes or until apple are soft and tender.
Mash the apples with a potatos masher or fork. You can also use and emulsion mixer for a smooth applesauce consistency.
Transfer to a bowl, cover and set aside.
ÄLPLERMAGRONEN
Add the bacon bits into a skillet and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes or until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
Using the bacon skillet with the bacon fat in it, add the tablespoon of butter and onions and sautee on medium heat.
In a meantime, fill a pot with water and add the potatos alond with the salt and cook on medium heat for about 15 minutes.
Combine the penne or macaroni with the potatoes and cook until pasta is soft, about 15 minuts.
Drain the water from the macaroni and potato and add the cream and cook for about 2 minutes on medium heat. Once the cream begins to heat up, add the cheese, a dash od salt and the nutmeg spice and stir totgther.
Continue cooking for a bout 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
Serve with caramlized sauteed onions and bacon bits.
